Set in 1978 New Jersey, this is a true story of a family who faced tragedy, when their soccer star son died. In hopes of filling the place that was left by her brother, Gracie Bowen (played by Carly Schroeder) decides to join the boys’ soccer team. But her stubborn parents (Dermot Mulroney and Elisabeth Shue) don’t believe that Gracie should play because she is a girl and constantly puts her down. In an already competitive world of junior high soccer, Gracie even has a harder time trying to prove to everybody that she has the right to play a game her family loves. Amidst all the hardships, she finds strength to continue playing and brings her family together.
